I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. This will be my second year teaching. My first year was spent teaching in Sullivan, IL. I spend most of my free time with my family. Besides that, I enjoy going to concerts with friends, reading, and soaking up the sunshine as much as possible. I do have a pet rabbit, that I inherited while teaching at Sullivan. The students had named him Cricket for all the bouncing and jumping he does! I have such a passion for teaching and I can’t wait to share it with everyone. I look forward to becoming a part of Prairieview-Ogden’s community! I am incredibly excited to meet everyone soon

I am so happy to announce our new 5th grade teacher (Ms. Emily Griswell) for 2018-19. My name is Emily Griswell and I am very excited to introduce myself as the new fifth grade teacher at PVO South. I grew up in St. Joseph and still live in the area. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University in December of 2016 with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I am currently working on completing my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Eastern Illinois University (estimated completion is May 2019). After student teaching (in fourth grade with Mrs. Stewart at PVO South!!), I taught fourth grade for a semester at St. Joseph Grade School. I have been a graduate assistant for the past year at EIU while working on my Master’s, and I can’t wait to get back into a classroom full time. I love the upper elementary level as the kids are sweet and sassy at the same time. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking, watching movies, and crafting (pallet projects are my favorite hobby right now). I am so incredibly excited to be back at PVO South and connect with past and future students and families.

It's not a joke. When a person, regardless of age, makes a threat to harm students or faculty at a school, it may seem to some like a youthful prank, but to the Illinois law enforcement community - State's Attorneys, Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police - it is no laughing matter. Threatening violence at a school, personally or through social media, is a crime that is punishable by years in prison. The havoc and fear created when someone threatens a school community is real, no matter the intentions of the person who communicates that threat. All threats are taken seriously, and investigating them diverts precious resources. The law enforcement community stands united in making our schools safe. In Illinois that means that threats of violence are no joke and those that make them will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
