Hi PVO The weather is getting nicer out and I hope you are getting some fresh air but practicing your six foot social distancing! What I would like you to do is take a picture/short video of something you have done together as a family and post it to our Facebook/Twitter account. Examples: An Art project, cooking project, STEM project, playing games, etc. Today, Mr. Fiscus (now Tuscola principal) ask his students to post a Dunking video (rim at whatever height). So start posting/sharing your positive picture/video with a description. I look forward to seeing all the pictures/videos. Thanks Mr. White

Date: March 23, 2020 Re:Remote Learning To: PVO Families Hello PVO Families- These are some unprecedented times but the number one most important item for all of us is to be safe! The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is encouraging school districts to provide some types of remote learning opportunities and PVO is here to help our students to continue their love for learning. This is not to add stress during these already stressful times, this is to help create a routine of learning for all the students in the district. Currently, schools are closed through April 7, this date is subject to change since these are unprecedented times. Teachers are currently organizing options to be shared with families and will be reaching out to you in the very near future (if our wonderful teachers and staff have not done so already). Many of these resources are for remote learning instruction, if you do not have the ability for remote learning instruction please reach out to your child(s) teacher(s) and we will do our best to match up a paper version lesson to our remote learning resources through mail/or through staff delivery. We ask that you do not come to the schools unless otherwise arranged for special purposes. The offices will be open daily from 8:00 to 12:00 noon to assist so please call us. We have set up a tentative schedule for the teachers and students to follow, but it may vary depending on the grade level: Mondays and Wednesdays: Math and Reading Tuesday and Thursdays: English Language Arts and Reading Fridays: Social Studies and/or Science and Reading Reading is listed every day. It could be what is suggested by the teachers, but it could also be as simple as reading a cartoon, short story or a news article. We are currently collecting resources and putting them in one location for all families with internet access to view. A link will be provided on Tuesday, March 24th through email and Facebook correspondence. The most important things to remember with remote learning right now is to have continuity, structure, and support! Please continue to communicate with the PVO teacher(s) via email, Class Dojo, or any other communication platform. Sincerely, Mr. White, Mr. Isenhower, Mr. Heuer, and PVO Teachers
The 2020-21 pre-kindergarten registration is cancelled and we will reschedule once Covid-19 all clear is given.

The 7th & 8th-grade students took advantage of an extra credit opportunity in Mrs. Mathis' language class. Each student had the opportunity to dress up in some way to represent an example of figurative language (idiom, pun, simile, personification, etc.). In these pictures, you'll see everything from the pun "baseball pitcher" to the idiom "chip on his shoulder" and even "It's raining cats and dogs." It's always such a fun day! Mrs. Mathis

Preliminary results are 82,000' altitude. We will pull data when we get back to school.
Communication is back. Shorter than expected, so maybe it didn't get as high? Data recorder will tell the story.
Communication will resume after balloon burst and it begins falling back to Earth. This should occur in about 1 hour.
We have lost communication with the balloon. Not to worry, it is due to altitude exceeding GPS satellite range.
We launched at 9:35 am. The students working on the project have designed the payload to carry two cameras, a GPS device, and a data-logger, which will record altitude, temperature, pressure, and GPS coordinates of travel. You can follow the path by watching updates to our SPOT page here: https://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=1VPZk6qyEqqOUSFNJmSMJJmmuoLOAXtqe Password is: Mustangs1

It's not a joke. When a person, regardless of age, makes a threat to harm students or faculty at a school, it may seem to some like a youthful prank, but to the Illinois law enforcement community - State's Attorneys, Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police - it is no laughing matter. Threatening violence at a school, personally or through social media, is a crime that is punishable by years in prison. The havoc and fear created when someone threatens a school community is real, no matter the intentions of the person who communicates that threat. All threats are taken seriously, and investigating them diverts precious resources. The law enforcement community stands united in making our schools safe. In Illinois that means that threats of violence are no joke and those that make them will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
