Exemplary
The 7th & 8th-grade students took advantage of an extra credit opportunity in Mrs. Mathis' language class. Each student had the opportunity to dress up in some way to represent an example of figurative language (idiom, pun, simile, personification, etc.). In these pictures, you'll see everything from the pun "baseball pitcher" to the idiom "chip on his shoulder" and even "It's raining cats and dogs." It's always such a fun day! Mrs. Mathis

Presentation
We are honored to have Mr. Jeff Mathis as our jr. high Veteran’s Day speaker. Below is Mr. Mathis biography. Please feel free to come November 11 at 2pm to the Jr High School gymnasium. My name is Jeff Mathis and I was born in Tolono, IL. I moved to Ogden in 6th grade and finished the rest of junior high there, so several of the PVO teacher are familiar faces for me. I graduated from St Joseph-Ogden High School in 2002. Shortly after graduating, I enlisted in the Army and completed basic and advanced training at Ft. Jackson in South Carolina. I was stationed at Ft Riley, KS for the duration of my enlistment with the exception of my 13 month deployment to Iraq. After getting out of the Army in December of 2006, I moved back to the area to further my education. In 2007, I married Mrs Mathis. In 2011, I received my bachelors degree from ISU in Exercise Science followed by my Masters degree in 2013. Along the way, we had 2 wonderful children. I am a member of the Local 149 Plumbers and Pipefitters and enjoy working with my hands to build anything from small projects to 24 story buildings. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my kids outdoors and playing sports
